October round up!

The nights are drawing in here in the UK and I've made an effort to stitch most evenings. I now need to work on the blogging!

Here is a round up of what has been going on since I last posted, there is a distinct Halloween feel.

Lizzie*Kate's ABC Halloween has been a WIP, actually a UFO for quite some time. Pictures haven't appeared on here as it was my Yorkshire sewing to be done when staying at my husband's house in Yorkshire before his house sold.  That was in February.  Anyway it's finished now.

This was stitched on 32ct Dirty Belfast linen with the recommended DMC and Crescent Colours floss.  When I finished this I started another Lizzie*Kate Halloween project, the Mystery Sampler Club Very Scary from 2013.

This is part 3 as I usually start at the bottom and stitch upwards.

 

 

For me Halloween would not be Halloween without some Just Nan. So here we go.

 

Firstly the Cure Hoots Ollie and Percy.  Ollie is stitched on 30ct carrot linen from Weeks Dye Works and Percy on 30ct Peoria purple linen also from Weeks Dye Works.  Both were stitched with the recommended DMC floss.

Next up Miss Witchy Mouse. this one is so cute I've actually stitched her twice. Once for me and once for my Mother-in -law.  She is stitched on 32ct raw Belfast linen with DMC floss.

 

 

 

 

 

Careful use of the Peoria purple linen supplied with Percy Hoot meant that I had enough to stitch the Spooky Witch Hat, a limited edition tin from the Over The Top  series from 2009. so far I have stitched the base of the hat. 

 

 

 

Stitching the rest of the hat has been suspended as a Halloween themed birthday gift has taken its place.  This is the Halloween Frights Treat Box from Praiseworthy Stitches.  I spent two evenings reading the finishing instructions.  Too much glue for my liking so what you see here has been hand finished from the lining inside the tin, which you can't see, the Frankie Needlebook and the purple ribbon around the lid lining.

 

 

 

The scissor sheath is being stitched at the moment.

 

 

I'm yet to work out how to finish this without using glue. Still to complete is a beaded scissor fob, pumpkin pyn cushion and candy corn pyn disc.

 

Not all my stitching has had a Halloween theme. There has been some festive finishes too.  These are from Shepherd's Bush. The Grey Snowman and Hark from this year's Just Cross Stitch Christmas ornament issue.  Both are stitched with the recommended floss.

 

 

 

 

Has anyone else done the Shepherd's Bush snowmen?  I do not want to get them framed individually as there are too many of them.  has anyone found a novel way of displaying them? I was thinking of making them into bunting to hang some where in the house.  Any suggestions gratefully received.

Back with some finishes!

So, yet another two months since my last post, again for various reasons, but the good news is I've got my stitchy mojo back!

At the beginning of the school holidays we went on holiday to France for a week on the way out, by train, and at our first destination I stitched on The Sweetheart Tree's Halloween Quadrielle.  Our second destination was Paris so no stitching was done there.

This project came as a kit and was stitched on 28 ct lambswool linen with DMC floss. Here are a few pictures of it made up.

Before going on holiday I finished Just Nan's Lady Scarlet's Christmas. This was stitched on 28 ct raw linen with the recommended DMC floss.

Since being back I have stitched on Halloween Rules from Lizzie*Kate finishing Carve a Pumpkin.  As you can see form the photo Scare a Crow is not far from being finished too!

There are two weeks of the school holidays left so I am ditching the rotation until the start of September.  Hopefully, Halloween Rules will be finished by then.

It's that time of the year again!

Apologies for the lack of posting last week but at school it's that time of year again with lots of coursework to be marked before the Easter Hollidays, that's if I don't want to spend my holidays marking!

So first up my progress on Lizzie*Kate's Halloween Rules.  I managend to do more than I thought on this, partially due to having to take a few days off work because I had a bad inner ear infection, which caused my ear drum to perforate! The infection has cleared up but I'm still slightly deaf in one ear.

Last week on the rotation it was The Drawn Thread week.  Not much progress was made in the evenings but over the weekend I made up for my lack of stitiching.  Here is my progress so far.

I just need to complete the border on this one.

This week it's Just Nan week and I'm starting a new project, Lady Scarlet's Journey.  It's another busy week work wise this week so it will be interesting to see how I get on!

Two more finished!

Before I start can I just say a big thank you for all your comments on my last post.  The Santa Tree Skirt did become a UFO last year, it's not finished ye,t but not far to go, so keep watching this space!

One project that isn't destined for UFO status is Halloween Rules from Lizzie*Kate.  Last week I finished two more sections, Brew Some Fun and Sit for a Spell.  The cat's eyes look a bit mad in this photo.

At the weekend we made our first visit to 'The Railway' of 2013. It was very wet but everyone seemed to enjoy 'A Day Out With Thomas'.

On the way there and back I was able to do some stitching in the car so Hand Wash Only moved on a little.

This week it's back to the Winter Arbor.

First up on the rotation

This New Year I have decided to re-instate the rotation, and stick to it!  So for the first full week of the month I'm going to stitch something with a Halloween theme. I have chosen to do the Lizzie*Kate Halloween Rules Double Flips.  I am going to stitch these all together as one piece as I have the frame for it, a gift from Father Christmas in 2011.  These are being stitched on 32 ct Chestnut linen with the recommended over-dyed floss.  Wast week I managed to complete three of the flips.

I have included the scissors in the photo because when I have seen this project on other blogs it has seemed much bigger than it really is. My next dilemma is what to do about claiming a finish? Do I only claim a finish when all twelve flips are completed or do I claim each one or do I claim two flips as a finish as this is how you buy the charts?  Suggestions please!

At weekends I'm often away from home for one reason or another so I usually take a small project away with me.  This weekend's one also had a Halloween feel, the Creepy Pin Cushion from Shepherd's Bush.

On the rotation for the second week of the month is something from The Drawn Thread starting with the Winter Arbor so progress pics of that next time.

White Nights came back from the framers and is now on the wall.  This is not the best picture but it shows you how big it turned out!
